I’d like to tell you about my experience in CELI and Cebu. I came here a month ago with my girlfriend. She is working here and I decided to learn English in CELI.
At first, Philippines gave me a not so good impression. Many unusual and terrible things struck me such as lots of beggars, some dirty places and crazy traffic. Also, it gave me a thought that if this is an English-speaking country, why half of the people in Cebu don’t know how to speak English. Nevertheless, people around were very friendly, polite and always attentive.
While studying English in CELI, my English knowledge has improved, my vocabulary became wider and I became more confident speaking the language.
The staffs are always polite and attentive --- they quickly resolve all questions. I like my teachers, they make me eager to go to class everyday.
I hope that before I finish my studies here, my English knowledge will be better. Also, I hope that everything around will still be fun and interesting.
My Teachers’ Appearance and Personality
By: M. Ishihara (Katsu)
I have 3 teachers in this academy and I like to share their personalities and appearance. Mr. Joenard is 21 years old handsome boy. He is kind, eager and friendly.
Miss Caress is 24 years old and a clever lady. She is very beautiful and she is friendly, neat and funny.
Mr. Joniefer is 30 years old and a friendly man. He has medium height and has round face. He is kind, eager and creative.
Do you agree on the saying “English” is a universal language.
By: Hitoshi
I’m completely in favor of this saying. I guess that there are number of advantages and disadvantages to decide “English is the world’s common language”. In the next paragraph, I will show several instances that lead to my opinion.
First, nowadays, English is the most spoken language in the world. Of course, that point of view is based on the speaker’s population. Native tongue population like Chinese and Portugese have less English language speakers. This means that if you want to communicate to someone all over the world, English is more superior than other languages.
Second, in my country, Japan is a developed country but almost all of us cannot speak English. I hope that more Japanese would learn how to speak English for easy introduction of our products, food and culture. Moreover, I believe that Japanese are the most polite people in the world. When we go to abroad, our personality gives a nice image for other foreigners. Someday these action or behavior will give good results for us.
Third, information via Internet consists most of all in English. The best way to know the state-of-the-art technology, to search popular restaurants and to confirm ways of transportation is to use English.
In conclusion, may of non-native English speakers are studying English now, so native English speakers should make effort to use simple style of English. Both of us should try it so our world becomes better.
